Week 16 - 13.07.20

For our assembly this week, we're joined by scientist, doctor and broadcaster Professor Robert Winston, who was challenged by children to answer all of the questions they had about science. With questions ranging from thunderstorms to vaccines, there's almost nothing he couldn't explain!

Instead of an English plan to work from this week, below are a number of documents related to your transition to secondary school.  You should work through them as they are numbered, at your own pace and ideally with a grown-up, as there are a lot of discussion points...  You do not need to upload this work to Showbie, unless you have questions you'd like to ask Mrs Guy or Miss Shinn about secondary school.  They are happy to help!

Session 1 - Being awesome

Session 2 - Unlocking your mind

Session 3 - Dare to take risks

Session 4 - Making the change

Session 5 - Lost but not lost

Session 6 - Bouncebackability

Session 7 - What is normal anyway?

Session 8 - Friendships and fallouts

Session 9 - Living well

Lyrics to Memories

Here's to the ones that we got
Cheers to the wish you were here but you're not
'Cause the dreams bring back all the memories
Of everything we've been through
Toast to the ones here today
Toast to the ones that we lost on the way
'Cause the dreams bring back all the memories
And the memories bring back, memories bring back you

There's a time that I remember
When I did not know no pain
When I believed in forever
And everything would stay the same
Now my heart feel like December
When somebody say your name
'Cause I can't reach out to call you
But I know I will one day, yeah

Everybody hurts sometimes
Everybody hurts someday, ay ay
But everything gon' be alright
Go on raise a glass and say, ay

Here's to the ones that we got
Cheers to the wish you were here but you're not
'Cause the dreams bring back all the memories
Of everything we've been through
Toast to the ones here today
Toast to the ones that we lost on the way
'Cause the dreams bring back all the memories
And the memories bring back, memories bring back you

Doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo
Memories bring back, memories bring back you

There's a time that I remember
When I never felt so lost
When I felt all of the hatred
Was too powerful to stop (ooh, yeah)
Now my heart feel like an ember
And it's lighting up the dark
I'll carry these torches for ya
That you know I'll never drop, yeah

Everybody hurts sometimes
Everybody hurts someday, ay ay
But everything gon' be alright
Go on raise a glass and say, ay

Here's to the ones that we got (oh, oh)
Cheers to the wish you were here but you're not
'Cause the dreams bring back all the memories
Of everything we've been through (no, no)
Toast to the ones here today (ay)
Toast to the ones that we lost on the way
'Cause the dreams bring back all the memories (ay)
And the memories bring back, memories bring back you

Doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo
Memories bring back, memories bring back you

Doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo
Doo-doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo (ooh, yeah)
Memories bring back, memories bring back you

Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, no, no
Memories bring back, memories bring back you

Week 13 - 22.06.20

This week we're incredibly excited to share an assembly hosted by The Duchess of Cambridge, who wants to share the importance of spreading a little kindness for our mental wellbeing. This assembly encourages children to explore ways in which they can show kindness, and recognise the benefits of kindness to others.
